I say sorry to anybody

or everybody

but mostly I say sorry to thisbody

my body,  myself—

the body I abused with hate and neglect

but nobody cares

about any sorry

so instead

I say thank you to thisbody, my body, a cosmic machine —

thank you to the thread of life stretching from thisbody

far back,  connecting all bodies;

taut and frayed, and yet unbroken.
